Back for more! Yay!
Well, day 5 was not very exciting. We ventured out for some coffee after reluctantly rising from sleep. We found a cute little coffee shop called LeighAnn’s. They had great coffee!
Then, after having no luck finding a good place to get a massage (we were quite sore from driving and snorkeling), we decided to explore one small beach.
After this short excursion, we headed back to the resort. Basically, we spent the whole day enjoying the breeze and the view on the balcony. I was so tired I could hardly move.
We did venture out later in the evening to get some sunset pictures on the bridge.
Day 6 was a little more adventurous. We headed over to Bahai-Honda State Park. This was the best beach and state park we found on our visit. Before lunch, we just did a little exploring. There was a small butterfly garden where I chased butterflies for a bit. Then my husband and I parted ways for a bit to explore on our own. I decided to head down a beach trail and watch the birds. Several were out catching some breakfast, and I followed one of these feathered creatures down the beach until he stopped to scoop up a crab from the sand. I got many a good picture of him fighting with that bite of breakfast. Soon enough, however, the little crab lost the struggle and was gone from sight into birdy-boy’s belly.
The old railroad track ran right out from this state park, and I got a few good shots of the bridge the tracks ran on across the water, and I walked up on a walking bridge and got a few nice shots of the beach below.
After a bit, I started getting quite thirsty and had to locate my husband to get back in the car where the water was (note: do not leave your water locked in the car on a hot day). Once he was located, we headed out for a bite of lunch and a quick rest at the resort. Then it was back to the park for a nice swim. This particular beach happened to have a seaweed-free shoreline. The water was nice and refreshing and we swam for quite some time with the other tourists trying to beat the heat.
After our nice little swim, we headed back to the resort to get gussied up for a night out. We had dinner at the Sunset Grille out by the Seven Mile Bridge right about sunset. And that was the end of our last two days in the Keys. But the adventure was not yet over…Stay tuned for the last big adventure!
